A Wellington County OPP officer stopped to help a driver on Highway 6 south of Fergus on Friday March 3rd. Two people were standing along the highway next to a white coupe with its hazard lights on. But as the officer approached, the people ran to the vehicle. One person was stopped, and the other fled the scene in the car.
As a result, a 38-year-old from Orangeville was charged with Obstructing and Assaulting an Officer and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest. They were also charged with Possession of Cocaine for Trafficking. The accused was held for bail. The officer did not require medical attention.
