The annual Newcomers’ Welcome Reception in Minto is set for Friday, August 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Palmerston Community Centre, in conjunction with the Palmerston Fair. The event is hosted by the Town of Minto, the Minto Chamber of Commerce and the local downtown revitalization committees.
Anyone who has relocated to the area in the last year is invited to meet with various businesses, community groups, churches, and Town staff to learn more about the community, and ask questions.
Marketing and Community Development Coordinator Erin Raftis said, “We have a welcome bag full of goodies and information from various businesses and community groups that newcomers can pick up at the entrance.”
The event is free to attend, and will allow time to socialize with other newcomers and the community, listen to live music by Clifford musician Juanita Wilkins, and enjoy light snacks and refreshments. Attendees can also sign-up to receive recycling and organics bins.
