On Saturday April 8th, members of the public gathered at Jack Downing Park on Main Street east in Shelburne, for a freedom rally. Police attended and spoke with demonstrators, most of whom police said were cooperative and law-abiding. However, three individuals were arrested. A 44-year-old man from Shelburne was charged with assault with a weapon, intimidation and mischief. He is being held pending a bail hearing. A 27-year-old man from Orangeville was charged with mischief. Later in the day, the same man was charged again for failing to comply with their undertaking. The accused is scheduled to appear at court in Orangeville in May. A 40-year-old female from Scarborough was arrested on a bench warrant. The OPP says it has no role in resolving the underlying issues. ——-
