Just before 8 a.m. Wednesday morning February 22nd, Grey Bruce OPP responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Grey Road 7 in Meaford.As the day went on, officers responded to other calls involving the same vehicle. It was discovered the vehicle had been sold via what is alleged to be a fraudulent transaction using an online buy and sell site.Grey Bruce OPP identified the accused, and they were arrested later that day.Police have charged a 27-year-old from Hamilton with two counts of fraud over $5000; and Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.The accused was released, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
