Mapleton’s Council and Chief Administrative Officer have launched an initiative to update the township’s corporate and community strategic plan.
The plan guides Council’s decision making during the current term, and beyond. The process will involve extensive consultation and engagement with Council, the senior leadership team, staff, and key community stakeholders. The aim is to create a meaningful, action-oriented plan reflecting Council’s vision for the community, and identify a set of values to set the tone or an overall context for Council’s deliberations. The process includes creating an inventory of current, planned, and anticipated actions or initiatives reflecting those values. It also gives a general projection of timing and resources required to achieve the strategic directions. A critical dimension of the process is to consult with representatives from key community and stakeholder groups. The goal is to work collectively to identify new opportunities and activities not currently included in the Township’s business and departmental plans, and to reinforce the importance of initiatives previously identified. Arrangements are underway to convene focus group sessions with representatives of community organizations, and roll out a process to get public input. Council has retained Murray Clarke of Erebus Municipal Services Inc. to assist with the process. Clarke retired in 2017 after a career as a CAO in municipalities in Ontario and British Columbia. Clarke was previously interim CAO at Mapleton Township.
