A recent report says Mount Forest ranks as the fifth most affordable “city” in Ontario to buy a home.
The report was published on a blog post on real estate website Zolo.ca.
After Wasaga Beach and Casselman, Mount Forest is the third most affordable small city in the province, with the average home price in town coming in at $489,000 in April.
Kincardine ranks right behind Mount Forest, with the average home in April costing $739,729.
More than 180 “cities” across Ontario were analyzed to come up with the rankings. Small cities were those with populations under 30,000, large cities over 100,000, with medium cities being those in between.
Cities were then ranked based on housing affordability, economic strength and population growth.
Of surrounding towns, Harriston ranked 35 on the list, Shelburne was 36, Palmerston was 64, Hanover was 80, and Durham ranked 137.
The report said of Mount Forest, “The community is picturesque, combining established neighbourhoods and new builds.”
