Two Mount Forest residents will appear before Council at Wellington North’s Monday meeting to oppose the rezoning of 425-427 King St. East.
McTrach Capital and 427 Management Service Inc. have applied to rezone the vacant lots from low- or medium-density residential to high density.
Rachel Kery and Reid Rayfield will both make presentations at the meeting to explain their objections.
Kery has a petition with 56 signatures opposing the application, pointing to a loss of mature trees and green space, as well as increased litter and traffic, as reasons to deny it.
Rayfield explains the application has no outline for a water retention pond, and also says the 18 proposed units are too dense for the available land.
Farhan Mahmood, representing 427 Management Inc., will also be at the meeting to make a presentation on behalf of the company. Mahmood says the company originally wanted to build 30 townhouses, and cut the plan to 18 after consultation with the township. They also claim they’ve “spoken to most of the neighbors,” with several apparently expressing interest in purchasing one of the townhomes.
