The OPP is offering a substantial reward for information on the disappearance of a Toronto area resident.
Karen ‘Karebear’ Thompson was a 43-year-old mother of four children when she was last seen in July, 2016. Karen had lived in Etobicoke but led a lifestyle that could be described as transient in nature. The OPP has created and issued a public appear for information with a video including participation from a member of Karen’s family in the hope of receiving more information to determine Karen’s whereabouts and what may have happened to her. The OPP is encouraging everyone to publicize and share the story with their audiences on their social media channels. You can find the video on The River’s Facebook page.
A $50,000 reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of those responsible for Karen’s disappearance is now being offered. Every lead that comes in will be thoroughly investigated. Police are urging anyone with information to call the OPP dedicated tip line at 1-844-677-9414, their local police service or – to remain anonymous – call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Detective Inspector Chris Josiah, Major Case Manager, OPP CIB, said, “My investigative team is confident that people have information that could identify the culprits responsible for Karen Thompson’s disappearance. Every lead that comes in will be thoroughly investigated. We want to bring resolution to Karen’s family.”
