Police responded during a fraud in progress at a home in Fergus on Thursday March 2nd.The alleged fraudsters were trying to get money the potential victim believed was to pay bail for their grandson.Police took two people into custody. The grandson did not, in fact, need any bail money.The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone who has been contacted in a similar manner to call 1-888-310-1122.To avoid being a victim, check with another family member or trusted friend to verify information before sending money or giving credit card information.

 

In a follow-up to a story from Friday:Wellington County OPP have laid charges in relation to an attempted fraud at a home in Fergus.As a result of the investigation, a 20-years-old and a 17-year-old, both residents of Guelph, have been charged with Fraud Over $5,000. Both are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
