The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority announced the reopening of two conservation areas this week.
All trails at the Allan Park Conservation Area in Hanover have been reopened. The park has seen extensive forest management efforts due to damage caused by the emerald ash borer. This 400-acre property within the Horseshoe Moraine includes over 10km of recreational trails.
The Mildmay/Carrick Forest in Mildmay has undergone significant trail repairs following a period of forest management, and trail degradation caused by illegal motorized vehicles.
The 327-acre property, including 3.5km of recreational trails, is also reopened.
As of yesterday, the 98-acre Stoney Island Conservation Area in Tiverton will be closed to the public for approximately three months to remove approximately 7,300 ash trees.
The trees have been severely affected by an emerald ash borer infestation, and their removal is critical to ensuring the future safety of property users.
Motor vehicles, including and especially off-road vehicles such as ATVs, are strictly prohibited on all SVCA properties, outside of designated parking areas.
